Meet Marla Mervis-Hartmann!

I first met Marla through my daughter Isabelle’s school EverWild, and she has since become a dear friend. She is passionate, kind, loving and fun! Her energy is so refreshing and she always drops some great insight for me when we spend time together, which is almost always in nature! As the creator of Love Your Body Love Yourself Marla has a lot to say on the topic of self-love and I am so happy to share some of her wisdom here!

Introduce yourself! Share a little bit about who you are.

My name is Marla Mervis-Hartmann. I am the creator of Love Your Body Love Yourself and I am a Living Light Reiki Master. I support women to have freedom with food and body confidence so they can live the life they want to live! I am a momma and a wife and I most recently lived in Topanga Canyon.

Please share a little about your beauty rituals. What are three products you are currently using everyday? Is there anything you never leave the house without?!

My beauty rituals. So my three products that I currently use everyday are a Fleur 333 custom facial oil, I use almond oil on my body and I use a sunscreen when I go out. That’s pretty much it! And I also use Ilia, a foundation which I really love.

Beauty begins within is a saying I’m sure most of us have heard many times. How do you put this into practice? How are you nourishing your inner beauty?

I believe that our beauty, our love, comes from the internal and not the external. It’s how we are loving our bodies and taking care of our bodies not about the external. So for me, nourishing my inner beauty is about finding love in my heart, and being in connection to myself. No matter how beautiful I may look, if I have a scowl on my face and I am not in a place of love for myself and for those around me, then I am not having inner beauty. At all.

Please share one go-to practice you use to transform your energy and raise your vibe!

I would say I have three of those. I do reiki everyday on myself. Dancing is a big thing for me. And also my meditation practice.

Please share your daily self-love practices.

Ohhhh gosh so many things I do on a regular basis that I feel are so important. It is my meditation. It is my yoga. Is it balancing. Balancing my life. Balancing how I show up as a mom, how I show up as a wife, how I show up as a friend, how I show up in my work. Making sure I am in alignment with all of those and myself. So on a practical level that looks like me going on daily walks in nature with my headset on singing and connecting with myself. That looks like eating yummy nourishing food. That looks like listening to my body and noticing how my body wants to move. How it wants to rest. How I want to be taking care of myself. So I think it’s a very intimate relationship that I have been cultivating with myself as I am learning and becoming friends with myself and listening to those cues.

I really believe we are all here to learn and grow. Learning new things keeps me inspired! What is one thing you are working on or learning right now?

So the one thing I am working on learning right now is that. I am working on learning how to balance my energy. Learning how to heal my adrenals and find the right flow for myself. Finding a balance of sleep, and rest and quiet and full on fun time and exerting myself and work and finding that balance where I am not stressing myself out. And to me I feel like that’s something I have been working on for a while. I am learning more and more how to do that and listen to myself even when I want to push. Instead push myself to find a way to come back into balance. I feel like it’s an ongoing journey.

What is one wisdom gem or favorite quote you would like to share.

My one wisdom gem would be something I always say to my clients. You don’t have to like your body, but you do have to find a way to love it. And what I mean by that is you may look in the mirror and you may not like what you see. You may be upset at your body for being sick or for having chronic pain or not showing up the way you want. But how are you dealing with that? How are you respecting your body? Are you saying mean things to your body? Are you still kind to yourself when you don’t like what you see in the mirror? Are you dieting because you don’t like that? No, we want to find ways to love ourselves even though we may not be in constant liking of how our body is showing up.

We are stronger together! Let’s stay connected and support one another! Please share your social media handles and business information if that applies to you.
